Equivalent substitutes also include: Phyllostachys nuda, Phyllostachys propinqua, Phyllostachys dulcisThese bamboo are very generic green medium height bamboo without noticeable special features. They are the workhorses of the hedge business. Without detailed study of the shoots, you would be hard pressed to tell one species from the next. They are all upright, well behaved, all green and great for hedges. Nuda culms are a little darker green and it is the cold hardiest.
